Voters in Iceland reject proposal to restart process to join European Union

Voters in Iceland on Saturday rejected a proposal to restart talks to join the European Union.

The measure was shot down with 52.8% of voters opposing the effort, while 47.2% were in support, according to the Associated Press.

The AP noted that the capital of Reykjavik was the only area that saw the majority of voters support joining the EU.
