Ex-Fox News opinion host Tucker Carlson launches online TV network, subscription streaming service

Former Fox News opinion host Tucker Carlson has started his own subscription streaming service, a new effort to extend his career after being fired by the cable network in April. 

The online TV network will be called the Tucker Carlson Network and will charge customers $9 a month for interviews, documentaries and "access to Tucker's personal inbox to ask him anything that's on your mind," according to CBS News.

Subscribers can also choose to pay a discounted annual fee of $72.

Carlson and his primetime Fox show was immensely popular among viewers of the conservative-leaning network. He was fired amid the publication of damaging emails made public in Dominion Voting Systems' defamation suit against the network, which was settle on behalf of the plaintiff for $787 million. 

Carlson says in a video clip posted Monday to his website the show was prompted by a sense that "something big is coming," including the 2024 presidential election and "entire populations" that are migrating to new locations, seeming to suggest streaming sites are become more popular than traditional news sites.

In June, Carlson launched a free show on X, the service formerly known as Twitter, on which he has nearly 11 million followers.
