7 people killed and multiple injured during a bus crash in Mississippi
The crash happened on Interstate 20 east of Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Dozens of people were injured and seven were killed Saturday when a bus on its way to Mexico overturned and crashed east of Vicksburg, Mississippi, according to reports.
Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey said among those killed were two siblings who were six and 16 years old.
The crash occurred on Interstate 20 when the 2018 Volvo commercial bus experienced a tire failure and rolled over off the highway, according to CNN.
“Anytime you have people injured or killed, it’s tragic but when you have a situation like this where you have multiple fatalities and multiple injuries, it makes it even worse,” Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace told the outlet.
Officials have said that the crash is under investigation.
The bus belongs to a company called Autobuses Regiomontanos, which transports passengers to and from Mexico and the U.S.
“All of the passengers go through proper immigration checkpoints and must show their passports or visas to enter either Mexico or the United States,” an Autobuses Regiomontanos spokesperson told CNN.
