South Korean police say no explosives detected after reported bomb threat against LA Dodgers player
About 350 officers are expected be present at the Dodgers-Padres game for extra security.
Police in South Korea say that they have not found any explosives in a search at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome after a bomb threat was made against Los Angeles Dodgers player Shohei Ohtani.
A South Korea news agency reported that the search began after police got an email that contained a threat to detonate a bomb during the upcoming Wednesday baseball game between the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers in order to harm Ohtani and others.
Over 100 police officers came to the dome in Seoul to investigate and conduct a search with X-ray detectors and sniffer dogs, but no explosives have been found, according to Fox News.
"It’s unfortunate that the threat of a bomb even being a possibility, but I have complete confidence in Major League Baseball and the security here that we feel safe," Padres manager Mike Shildt said, according to the outlet.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he doesn't have any information about the threat and will focus on the game.
Seoul's Guro police station announced that roughly 350 officers will be present at the baseball game for extra security.
