Two suspected illegal migrants found dead aboard Texas freight train

Two suspected illegal migrants were discovered dead on Friday aboard a freight train in south Texas, according to police reports.

There were 15 migrants in total on the train, in two separate cars, including 10 who had to receive urgent medical attention, and an ambulance or helicopter had to take them to the hospital.

The Uvalde Police Department wrote in a statement on Facebook that they received an anonymous 911 call Friday afternoon that said people were "suffocating" inside the train, which was traveling near the U.S.–Mexico border.

Police said that the Union Pacific railroad is investigating the incident. 

"We take the safety of all individuals seriously and work tirelessly with law enforcement partners to detect illegal items and people riding inside or on our rail cars," Union Pacific said in a statement.

Uvalde Police Chief Daniel Rodriguez told the San Antonio-Express News that they are still trying to figure out where the anonymous caller was calling from. 

"We're assuming it was from inside one of the cars," he told the local outlet. 

Sources told Fox News that the situation is suspected to be human smuggling.
