Former Biden White House aide takes Fifth Amendment over questions in House GOP probe: report

Former Biden White House aide Anthony Bernal invoked the Fifth Amendment on Wednesday as he refused to answer questions in the House Oversight Committee probe into former President Biden's mental acuity, according to a report.

Bernal, who was also former first lady Jill Biden's senior adviser, was subpoenaed for a closed-door deposition on Wednesday after missing a previously agreed-upon interview late last month.

The former aide's deposition was short, as Bernal pleaded the Fifth Amendment to the questions asked by House staffers, a source told Fox News.

Bernal is the second former Biden administration staffer to take the Fifth after ex-White House physician Kevin O'Connor also invoked the amendment last week.

House Oversight Committee James Comer's probe is to determine whether there was a coverup of Biden's declining health while in office and his use of an autopen for pardons and commutations.
