Van Orden: Ossoff lying about support for VA Home Loan Reform Act

Wisconsin GOP Rep. Derrick Van Orden criticized Georgia Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff on Friday for allegedly lying about supporting the VA Home Loan Reform Act.

Ossoff's office posted on X on Wednesday a news clip about "his bipartisan bill" that President Donald Trump signed into law in July, according to the TV reporter in the video.

"Today I am here to celebrate that President Trump has signed our bipartisan bill into law to protect American veterans from foreclosure and prevent veteran homelessness," Ossoff said in the video clip.

"The bipartisan VA Home Loan Reform Act championed by Sen. Ossoff to protect veterans facing foreclosure and homelessness has been signed into law," Ossoff's office captioned the X post.

The VA Home Loan Reform Act was introduced in the House of Representatives by Van Orden and passed the Senate by a voice vote.

"This is a bald faced LIE," Van Orden posted on X in response to Ossoff. "@SenOssoff had absolutely nothing to do with this bill, and I mean nothing. He did not even VOTE for it, it passed by [unanimous consent]. This disgusting and shameful behavior must stop. Veterans are not political props."

Van Orden also called out the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, posting on X, "[W]hat is going on over there with your lyin’ colleague, @SenOssoff? He had zero to do with passing my bill to help veteran homelessness. If he had, I would have publicly praised him because I refuse to politicize vet issues. Garbage."
