Florida Democratic Rep. Maxwell Frost on Thursday night blasted the Trump administration for its crackdown on illegal immigration, and accused Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials of "human-trafficking."

The inflammatory comment occurred hours after the lawmaker called for widespread amnesty for illegal migrants and claimed there should be a “speedy path to citizenship” for the undocumented.

Frost, who is the youngest lawmaker in Congress, made the statement during an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," where he claimed ICE officers were "terrorizing" American communities.

“We have ICE federal agents pulling up, terrorizing our communities, hopping out of unmarked vans, stealing, and yes, kidnapping people, not giving them their day in court, and yes, human trafficking them to other nations,” Frost said. “I like to be very clear about what’s going on right now so people understand that what is going on is, I believe, outside the bounds of the law.”

The comment was in response to an increase in immigration raids over the past month, which have occurred nationwide and at businesses. The raids have led to large-scale protests, including rioting in downtown Los Angeles.

Frost also accused ICE of taking away "due process" for illegal migrants, which he claimed was for every person in the country and not only American citizens.

“Due process is something that applies to every person in this country, regardless of your status,” Frost said. “This is from the party that likes to talk about American exceptionalism, but they want to rip away the few things that make our country actually exceptional.”
