House establishes first Congressional Jewish Caucus

The House of Representative has established the chamber's first Jewish caucus.

Prior to the vote, the chamber had caucuses for Black, Hispanic and Asian-Pacific Islander members, but none for Jewish members, according to the news outlet Axios.

The House has roughly 25 Jewish members.

"I am confident this caucus will bring Jewish members together to strive to achieve unity not unanimity, and will be a productive forum," said New York Democratic Rep. Jerry Nadler, who will co-chair the group with fellow Democratic Rep. Brad Schneider, of Illinois. 

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., tried unsuccessfully to create a Jewish caucus shortly after Hamas' Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack on Israel.
