The United Farm Workers Union announced that a cannabis farm worker died after an ICE raid which found underage illegal immigrant workers.
"This man was not in and has not been in CBP or ICE custody," said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, according to Fox News. "Although he was not being pursued by law enforcement, this individual climbed up to the roof of a green house and fell 30 feet. CBP immediately called a medivac to the scene to get him care as quickly as possible."
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Rodney Scott revealed that 10 illegal immigrant minors were working at the farm, which is under investigation for violations of child labor law.
ICE had conducted raids at Glass House Farms in Camarillo and another facility in Carpinteria. Protesters were on-site and tear gas was used on the crowd.
"We tragically can confirm that a farmworker has died of injuries they sustained as a result of yesterday’s immigration enforcement action," the United Farm Workers Union wrote in an announcement on X.
