House to receive classified briefing on US bombing of Iranian nuclear sites

The House is set to receive its classified briefing Friday morning on the U.S. bombing of Iranian nuclear sites, after the Senate received its Thursday.

After the Senate briefing from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Democrats were unconvinced that the U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites had "obliterated" them.

"It still appears that we have only set back the Iranian nuclear program by a handful of months," Connecticut Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy said. "There’s no doubt there was damage done to the program, but the allegations that we have obliterated their program just don’t seem to stand up to reason."

“I don’t think anybody’s been on the ground to assess the extent of the damage,” Texas GOP Sen. John Cornyn said after the briefing.

However, many Republicans said that they believe that it will take Iran years to build a nuclear weapon, but that the threat isn't completely neutralized.
