Senate Democrats delay committee vote on recommending Patel for final vote or FBI director
Democrats on the committee moved to “hold over” the nomination.
Senate Democrats on Thursday delayed a vote that would have moved the nomination for Kash Patel as FBI director to a final vote.
Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which was hold the vote, used a parliamentary procedure called a "hold over" that can delay a final floor vote.
The vote will delayed for one week, according to Forbes.
Earlier this week, committee Chairman Chuck Grassley denied Durbin's request another meeting for Patel, whom he said “does not have the temperament for the job.”
Durbin told CNN: “We asked for a meeting, because several things that he testified about turned out to be problematic,” Durbin
President Donald Trump nominated Patel to replace former FBI Director Christopher Wray.
With Republicans have the majority of members in the Senate, Patel appears likely be confirmed.
