Senate Democrats who voted to filibuster CR under Trump supported abolishing filibuster under Biden
"Literally zero Senate Democrats support the filibuster. 38 voted to filibuster the continuing resolution yesterday," wrote former Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., on X. "8 who previously voted to eliminate the filibuster (1/19/22) did not filibuster. 1 who previously campaigned against the filibuster did not filibuster."
Senate Democrats who filibustered the House-passed Continuing Resolution on Friday supported abolishing the filibuster when former President Biden was in office as a way to get more Democratic-sponsored legislation passed.
"Literally zero Senate Democrats support the filibuster. 38 voted to filibuster the continuing resolution yesterday," former Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., who previously voted to preserve the filibuster when Biden was in office, wrote Saturday on X.
"8 who previously voted to eliminate the filibuster (1/19/22) did not filibuster. 1 who previously campaigned against the filibuster did not filibuster," she added.
Many House and Senate Democrats are angry with Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., for voting to advance the CR on Friday.
Sinema posted a spreadsheet showing which sitting Democratic senators voted against advancing the CR after previously supporting abolishing the filibuster.
"The hypocrisy is the point," she wrote.
She also noted that Rep. Primila Jayapal, D-Wash., called for abolishing the filibuster in the past but she's currently advocating for Democrats to use it to block President Trump's agenda.
"Senate Democrats: Don’t betray working families. Don’t give Trump and Elon Musk a blank check," Jayapal wrote on X. "Don’t be complicit in the slashing of government programs. Vote NO on cloture and NO on final passage of Republicans’ bad bill."
