Vice President JD Vance is expected to meet with House Republicans on Tuesday morning to rally support for a spending measure to avert a looming government shutdown, ahead of a final, full-chamber vote scheduled for later in the day.

Vance will attend the GOP House conference's weekly meeting, according to NBC News.

Multiple aides to President Trump have been making calls to undecided GOP House members to try to get support for the measure – a so called "continuing resolution" that if passed will keep the federal government fully operational past Friday, NBC also reports.

This resolution would fund the government through September.

Trump endorsed the continuing resolution over the weekend and encouraged all Republicans to vote for it.

If more than one House Republican votes against the measure, House Speaker Mike Johnson will need yes votes from House Democrats to pass the measure.

If House members pass the legislation, they have to meet with Senate negotiators to pass it, then get it to Trump's desk.
