Vice President Vance postpones planned meeting with House Republicans: Reports
The vice president had been invited by House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain to speak to the caucus at their weekly Tuesday meeting, and he was expected to deliver remarks and take questions.
Vice President JD Vance reportedly postponed a planned meeting Monday with House Republicans that was expected to take place later this week, citing a "scheduling conflict," as Republican leaders seek to quell an internal revolt.
The vice president had been invited by House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain to speak to the caucus at their weekly Tuesday meeting, and he was expected to deliver remarks and take questions, according to Politico.
A source told the Washington Examiner that the cancelation was because of a scheduling conflict, and it comes after Republican leadership in the lower chamber was forced to scrap votes two weeks in a row due to threats from GOP hard-liners to block the chamber from passing legislation until the Senate passes the SAVE America Act.
House Speaker Mike Johnson has proposed injecting aspects of the SAVE America Act, which is a voter ID bill, into the budget reconciliation bill later this year to help dodge the 60-vote threshold the GOP needs in the Senate.
It is not clear when the vice president will address House Republican leadership next.
