The defamation trial against MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell brought by a former Dominion Voting Systems employee is set to begin in Denver with opening statements on Tuesday.

Former Dominion executive Eric Coomer, who handled security for the voting systems company, sued Lindell for defamation in 2022, local NBC News affiliate 9NEWS reported. The trial is scheduled to run through June 10.

Jury selection was completed on Monday, with the eight-person jury seated around 3:30 p.m. local time.

In a court filing, Coomer's attorneys argued, "After more than fifteen years as a respected professional at the top of his field, Dr Coomer's reputation has been irreparably tarnished." As a result, he "now endures frequent credible death threats and the burden of being made the face of an imagined criminal conspiracy of unprecedented scope in American history."

Lindell said outside the court on Monday, "We're in a battle of biblical proportions, of evil and good." He is expected to take the stand.
