DOGE employee now heads US Institute of Peace, according to court filing

An employee in the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency is now in charge of the U.S. Institute of Peace, according to a court filing. 

The filing Monday states that two board members from the Institute of Peace have authorized replacing its temporary president with DOGE official Nate Cavanaugh.

Cavanaugh was ordered to transfer the institute’s property to the General Services Administration, which has terminated multiple leases at the request of DOGE, according to The Associated Press.

A federal court filing requested that U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell stop the transfer of the institute's property. Both parties had to appear before her for a status hearing on Tuesday.

The hearing lasted about two hours and ended without a decision being made by the judge.

It was indicated that the transfer was already far along and would likely be finalized, despite attempts to stop it.
