A federal judge on Wednesday extended her blocks on all National Guard deployments to Portland, Oregon, by another two weeks, citing timing concerns given the blocks' original expiration later this week.

U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut initially blocked the Trump administration's attempted deployment earlier this month, observing that the deployment violated both federal law and the 10th Amendment.

The Trump administration has attempted to send Oregon National Guard troops and California National Guard troops into Portland to help with unruly protests.

Immergut made the decision during a telephonic hearing and scheduled a non-jury trial to take place on the deployments on Oct. 29, where she will decide whether a longer block will be necessary.

"[The] most important thing here is what's going on on the ground and whether it warrants the deployment that was ordered," Immergut said, per Reuters

The largely procedural decision comes as California and Oregon, along with the city of Portland, await a ruling on the Trump administration's challenge from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
