Judge rejects parts of 'Alligator Alcatraz' detainees' suit against Trump admin

The Trump administration on Tuesday notched a partial win in court as a federal judge declared some of the claims of detainees at "Alligator Alcatraz" to be moot.
The facility has become an iconic symbol of Trump's mass deportation efforts and earned notoriety for the presence of the eponymous reptile near the grounds. Inmates had sued the administration, alleging that the government had violated their 5th Amendment and 1st Amendment rights.
U.S. District Judge Rodolfo Ruiz on Tuesday declared the 5th Amendment claims moot in light of the administration's designation of a Miami-based immigration court to handle the cases, The Hill reported.
He did, however, permit the lawsuit to proceed on the 1st Amendment issue, citing claims from the inmates that they would not given access to private consultation with their attorneys.
