Michael Cohen predicts James Comey 'will be found guilty' in court in DOJ case
“I believe, likely, he committed a crime,” Michael Cohen said
President Trump's former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, predicted that former FBI Director James Comey "will be found guilty" in court in the Department of Justice's case against him.
Cohen suggested to MSNBC on Sunday that he has looked into Comey’s role in the 2016 Russian investigation and has “learned that Comey was actually very much involved in the Russia investigation, in a very negative way,” The Hill news outlet reported.
“Chances are this DOJ has every single email, every text message, every communication,” Cohen said, adding that the public has not yet seen what evidence the DOJ has against Comey.
“I believe, likely, he will be found guilty,” he continued.
A federal grand jury indicted Comey last week on two charges: making a false statement and obstructing a congressional proceeding in connection with his Senate testimony in 2020. Comey has denied any wrongdoing, stating that he never knowingly gave false testimony before Congress.
Cohen said he believes that DOJ prosecutors will find a crime that Comey committed and secure a conviction against him.
“I believe, likely, he committed a crime,” Cohen said about Comey. “I don’t know what that crime is, but there are hundreds of thousands of documents, and the government has each and every one of them.”
“All they need to find is that one,” he added.
