California Dem Gov Newsom dares Trump border czar Homan, 'arrest me' over immigration enforcement

California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom responded Sunday evening to White House "border czar" Tom Homan saying earlier in the day that the federal government will continue to enforce U.S. immigration law in Los Angeles, regardless of whether denizens "like it or not."

Homan had previously vowed to arrest anybody who obstructs immigration enforcement. When asked Sunday whether that would include Newsom or Los Angeles Democrat Mayor Karen Bass, he did not rule it out.

“I’ll say it about anybody,” Homan responded, “you cross that line, it’s a felony to knowingly harbor and conceal an illegal alien. It’s a felony to impede law enforcement doing their job.”

Newsom responded: “Come after me, arrest me. Let’s just get it over with, tough guy, you know? I don’t give a damn. But I care about my community. I care about this community.

Newsom will leave his governor post next year because of term limits and is considered a top, potential 2028 Democratic presidential candidate. 

“The hell are they doing?" Newson continued. "These guys need to grow up. They need to stop, and we need to push back. And I’m sorry to be so clear, but that kind of bloviating is exhausting. So, Tom, arrest me. Let’s go.”
