DHS condemns Rep. Ramirez for labeling ICE a 'terrorist' organization

The Department of Homeland Security had some choice words for Rep. Delia Ramirez, D-Ill., after she publicly labeled Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as a "terrorist organization."
Ramirez made the remarks this week in English, explicitly attacking border czar Tom Homan and saying "we will continue to call out the terrorist organization that is ICE."
"A sitting Congresswoman [Delia Ramirez] calls our brave [ICE] law enforcement a 'terrorist organization,'" DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said on X. "As they enforce the law that Congress made, the men and women of ICE face a 1000% increase in assaults against them. This is the same US Representative who said she is 'Guatemalan before she is American.'"
McLaughlin referenced a prior incident in which Ramirez spoke in Mexico City and insisted she was a Guatemalan before she was an American. That incident led to conservative condemnation, with many taking her statements as evidence of the failure of integration and multiculturalism.
