Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte announced Friday night that his office has begun its third round of "reducing redundant, or non-critical, personnel."

Pulte, who also serves as the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, began firing employees last month in an effort to downsize the agency, after replacing Tulsi Gabbard on an interim basis as director of the Office of National Intelligence.

He said in an X post that the U.S. national intelligence community is "operating more efficiently and effectively than ever before," and that he is beginning the third round of cuts.

"DNI’s future is exceptionally bright, and will be focused on following the law and the statute," he also said in the post.

Pulte did not specify how many employees have been terminated so far or how many are expected to in the latest round. But he reportedly sent 45 officers back to their home agencies last month, according to CBS News.
