President Donald Trump said Friday the Small Business Administration would be taking over the handling of student loans as a result of his dismantling of the Education Department.

“I’ve decided that the SBA, the Small Business Administration, headed by Kelly Loeffler, will handle all of the student loan portfolio,” Trump said during an Oval Office media event.

Student loans are one of the largest programs that are handled by the DOE.

Trump also said that the handling of funding for special needs programs and nutrition programs would be handled by the Health and Human Services Department.

“And also,Bobby Kennedy, with the Health and Human Services Department, will be handling special needs and all the nutrition programs and everything else,” he said.

While Trump cannot outright abolish the DOE without an act of Congress, he can essentially hollow it out by firing staff and routing essential programs to other departments.

Trump on Thursday signed an executive order that directed Education Secretary Linda McMahon to begin taking steps to close the department.
