B-52 bomber crashes at Edwards Air Force Base in California

Edwards Air Force base is roughly 100 miles north-west of Los Angeles, in the Mojave Desert.

A US Air Force B-52 Stratofortress crashed Monday morning at Edwards Air Force base, leaving a large plume of black smoke and rubble on the runway. 

“A United States Air Force B-52 Stratofortress crashed shortly after takeoff on the Edwards airfield at 11:20 a.m.” Edwards Air Force Base said in a statement on X. “Emergency crews immediately responded to the scene and the situation is ongoing. More information will be provided as it becomes available.”

It is unclear if there are any injuries at the moment. This is a developing story.
