Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bill renaming the Palm Beach International Airport to the President Donald J Trump International Airport.

According to the bill DeSantis signed Monday, the new name will take effect on July 1, CBS News reported.

"Changing an airport name is a local issue and the FAA does not approve airport name changes," the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement. "However, the FAA must complete some administrative tasks to include updating navigational charts and databases."

The Trump Organization filed a trademark application for the name in February, according to U.S. Patent and Trademark Office records. The application also included various travel-related items and merchandise, including luggage, flight suits, and plastic shoe protectors for the airport security screening process.

Trump's family business said the trademark application was prompted by the Florida bill, but that it did not seek to profit from the name change.

"To be clear, the President and his family will not receive any royalty, licensing fee, or financial consideration whatsoever from the proposed airport renaming," the Trump Organization said in a statement in February.

Trump's son, Eric, posted on X on Monday regarding the bill, saying, "Palm Beach International Airport is now officially…. 'President Donald J. Trump International Airport!' Proud to have played a small role in making this happen. Huge thanks to @megforflorida, @GovRonDeSantis, @JamesUthmeierFL, and the overwhelming majority in the Florida House!"
