Two UAB football players stabbed at team facility, report says
Both injured athletes were taken to UAB Hospital and their conditions are stable
Two University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) football players were reportedly stabbed Saturday morning at the school’s Football Operations Center, according to AL.com. The university confirmed that the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, and a suspect is now in custody.
UAB Police and Public Safety are investigating the assault.
“Injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. The suspect is in custody, and there is no threat to campus,” the UAB police said, according to CBS Sports.
Both injured athletes were taken to UAB Hospital. According to the report, their conditions are stable, the report said.
The incident occurred hours before UAB was scheduled to face South Florida at 3 p.m. local time at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama.
UAB has not yet announced any changes to the game’s kickoff time.
