ICE arrests 646 illegal migrants in Houston area
Thirty-four of those arrested have been charged or convicted of a sex offense or child sex offense.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced that they arrested 646 illegal migrants in the Houston area from Feb. 23 to March 2.
“In recent years, some of the world’s most dangerous fugitives, transnational gang members and criminal aliens have taken advantage of the crisis at our nation’s southern border to illegally enter the U.S.,” ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Houston Field Office Director Bret Bradford said in a statement.
According to the ICE website, 140 of the illegal migrants arrested were convicted of a felony or another violent offense.
Thirty-four of those arrested have been charged or convicted of a sex offense or child sex offense.
Texas GOP Congressman Troy Nehls praised ICE for the arrests, saying they were making the U.S. safer.
"These bad hombres do not belong in our communities," he wrote on X. "Good work by ICE!"
