"My intelligence community is wrong," he said.

President Donald Trump on Friday bluntly stated that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard was incorrect in assessing that there was no evidence that Iran was building nuclear weapons.

Trump made the remarks to reporters on the tarmac in Morristown, N.J. When asked what intelligence he had to substantiate the claim that Iran is building nuclear weapons in light of the intelligence community stating they had no evidence to that effect, Trump said "my intelligence community is wrong."

"Who in the intelligence community said that?" he then asked. When the reporter responded that it had been Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Trump flatly stated "she's wrong."

The Fox News reporter appeared to be referring to a previous intelligence community assessment on Iran that the DNI presented to Congress earlier this year. Gabbard, in March, testified in March that "[t]he IC continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and Supreme leader Khomeini has not authorized the nuclear weapons program that he suspended in 2003."

"We continue to monitor closely if Tehran decides to reauthorize its nuclear weapons program. In the past year, we've seen an erosion of a decades long taboo in Iran on discussing nuclear weapons in public likely emboldening nuclear weapons advocates within Iran's decision-making apparatus," she added. "Iran's enriched uranium stockpile is at its highest levels and is unprecedented for a state without nuclear weapons."

When pressed on her past assessments, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence told Just the News earlier this week that Gabbard and Trump were "on the same page" with respect to Iran's nuclear program.
