Trump expects Hamas to release hostages Monday or Tuesday

President Donald Trump on Thursday announced that he expected Hamas to release its remaining hostages early next week as part of his plan for an end to the Gaza War.
Hamas took more than 200 hostages on Oct. 7, 2023, as part of a lethal raid that kicked off the conflict.
"I think it's going to be a lasting peace, hopefully an everlasting peace, peace in the Middle East. We secured the release of all of the remaining hostages, and they should be released on Monday or Tuesday," he said during a Cabinet meeting. "Getting them is a complicated process. I'd rather not tell you what they have to do to get them. They're places you don't want to be, but we are getting the hostages back on Tuesday, Monday or Tuesday, and that'll be a day of joy."
"And very importantly, the hostages are coming back the as you know, they consider them hostages. They talk about them as hostages, but there are approximately 28 dead people, mostly young, mostly men, but and boys," he added.
