Trump collaborating with golf legend Jack Nicklaus to restore Joint Base Andrews golf courses
“Jack will design it,” he told reporters, adding that the work can be done “for very little money.”
Former President Donald Trump has announced he is collaborating with golf legend Jack Nicklaus to restore the deteriorating golf courses at Joint Base Andrews, which is located just outside the nation’s capital.
Known for housing Air Force One, Andrews also features several golf courses, two of which Trump said are in “very bad shape.”
On Saturday, Trump conducted an aerial tour of Andrews onboard Marine One, where he confirmed that Nicklaus will serve as the architect for the renovation.
“Jack will design it,” he told reporters, adding that the work can be done “for very little money.”
Trump, a well-known golf enthusiast, noted that rebuilding the courses was part of a broader effort to revitalize the base’s recreational facilities.
Nicklaus, 85, is widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers in history.
He has been designing courses with his firm, Nicklaus Design, in recent years.
The White House has not disclosed whether public money or private donations will support the overhaul.
We’re doing some fix-up of the base, which it needs … especially for our great Air Force,” Trumo said.
The restoration of the golf courses follows the demolition of the White House’s East Wing to make way for a $300 million ballroom.
