The U.S. Marshals Service has deputized some members of Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s private security detail as he leads the new Department of Government Efficiency, according to a report on Friday.

Musk's work with DOGE on cutting federal spending has been the target of strong criticism from Democratic lawmakers who have led several protests outside of federal agencies.

Musk does not have U.S. Secret Service protection but members of his security team now have "certain rights and protections of federal law enforcement agents," CBS News reported.
