Tesla billionaire Elon Musk recently made massive financial contributions to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's bid to replace GOP Sen. John Cornyn in the Senate, according to recent disclosures reported Thursday.

Musk has emerged as the Republican Party’s most important midterm donor, funneling more than $276 million into Republican campaigns and political action committees since July, the majority of which has gone to Texas.

Financial disclosures reported by Axios found that Musk donated $158 million to the GOP through the Senate Leadership Fund in September alone, which was disbursed to a political action committee, Texas PAC, funding Paxton's campaign.

Federal Election Commission filings showed Musk gave $75 million to the SLF on Sept. 9, which then disbursed the cash to Texas PAC the following day.

Two weeks later, Musk gave another $83 million to SLF, which disbursed the same amount to Texas PAC a day later on Sept. 24, the records showed.

Musk has also donated over $76 million to his own America PAC this year, which he founded in 2024. The group is operating in seven key Senate battleground states.

“If Democrats take control of Washington and win key gubernatorial and attorney general races this November, then America risks becoming a socialist, woke and borderless country,” America PAC spokesman Andrew Romeo told the New York Times. “These robust investments have allowed the GOP apparatus to get its message out so Republicans can have a fighting chance to defy history."
