Sarah Sanders ripped for anti-welfare ad featuring white man

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, R-Ark., stirred up a firestorm Monday morning, with an ad supporting work requirements for welfare that featured a young, white man slacking off and playing video games.

The ad features "Brad," a young white man playing video games, eating Cheetos, and using virtual reality goggles. Sanders introduces "Brad" as one of many people on welfare who "just choose not to work," before introducing her implementation of work requirements.

Conservatives online were quick to highlight that young, white men are statistically among the least likely demographics to receive welfare. Some accused the GOP of cowardice for refusing to depict a black individual, who is statistically more likely to receive welfare.

"Young white men as welfare queens? You're a coward and a joke," wrote The Blaze's Auron MacIntyre.

". @Grok what demographic has the highest rates of welfare-program participation in Arkansas? Is it white males?" asked conservative media figure Jack Posobiec. Grok replied that black individuals participated at the highest rates.

"Great policy. Terrible ad that is so dishonest and insulting that it will entirely overshadow the genuinely great policy," Federalist CEO Sean Davis wrote.

"This Republican ad calling out welfare leeches uses a young white male named 'Brad' as the villain," wrote the Daily Wire's Matt Walsh. "Meanwhile, back in reality, women are significantly more likely to be on welfare than men. And black people are astronomically more likely to be on welfare than white people."

"So the number of single young white male 'Brads' abusing the welfare system is minuscule. Practically non-existent. But of course Republicans don't have the balls to do this ad with 'Shaniqua' as the villain," he added. "Even though that would actually be an accurate portrayal of the problem at hand."

"Shaniqua" is a generic term for an entitled, often obese black woman. It is comparable to the pejorative "Karen" for white, bossy women.
