Judge enters not guilty plea as Bryan Kohberger silent in University of Idaho murders case
Kohberger's next court date is scheduled for Oct. 2 and the trial is expected to last six weeks.
A judge entered a not-guilty plea Monday on behalf of Bryan Kohberger after he was indicted last week on the murders of four University of Idaho students in November.
Kohberger stood silent during his arraignment, so Judge John Judge said he would enter a not-guilty plea on behalf of Kohberger after the defendant's attorney, Anne Taylor, said her client had decided to not yet enter a plea, according to The New York Times.
Students Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin were stabbed to death last year in an off-campus home in Moscow, Idaho.
Kohberger's next court date is scheduled for Oct. 2 and the trial is expected to last six weeks, according to local outlet WNEP. Idaho has 60 days from Monday to determine whether prosecutors will pursue the death penalty against Kohberger, a former criminology student at Washington State University.
