One victim and suspect dead in Midland, Texas, shooting, more than a dozen injured

At least one person is dead and more than a dozen were injured in a shooting event in Midland, Texas, city officials said.
The suspect has also died, according to Mayor Lori Blong. The suspect's body was seen with a drone, and the location continues to be secured, CBS News reported.
Four of the injured victims required surgery, one is in recovery and three others are still in the operating room. Two other patients are in stable condition in the emergency department. Three others were discharged, according to Midland Memorial Hospital.
The suspect was barricaded inside a building during the standoff, NewsWest 9 reported.
Midland Police Chief Greg Snow said that officers heard gunfire from inside the building and cleared the area. Armored units were deployed, and police were working to bring the standoff to a safe resolution.
Midland Memorial Hospital, which is near the building where the standoff is happening, was put on lockdown, but it's since been lifted.
