NYPD found antipsychotic meds, suicide note in NYC shooter's Las Vegas apartment
NYPD found 100 9mm rounds, a tripod for the rifle used in the shooting, and an empty hand box for a revolver
The New York Police Department found antipsychotic medications and a suicide note in the Las Vegas apartment of the New York City shooter who killed four people this week.
Detectives searched the studio apartment of 27-year-old Shane Tamura, who shot five people on Monday before killing himself, in Las Vegas and found 100 9mm rounds, a tripod for the rifle used in the shooting, and an empty hand box for a revolver, police said Wednesday, according to The Hill.
An NYPD spokesperson said they also found several prescription bottles for antipsychotic, antiepileptic, and anti-inflammatory drugs.
Tamura left a suicide note for his parents, saying in part, “I love you, mama. I’m sorry.”
In suicide notes found at the scene of the crime, Tamura mentioned a man named Rick, who was his supervisor at the Horseshoe Las Vegas, where he worked as a security officer, according to police.
“I’m sorry, Rick,” read the note found in the shooter’s wallet.
Rick sold Tamura the AR-15 rifle used in the shooting for $1,400. He also sold him the BMW the gunman drove across the country from Nevada to New York City, police said.
Rick's last name is being withheld, and he has not been charged with any crimes.
The four people who were killed were Blackstone executive Wesley LePatner, 43; Julia Hyman, a 27-year-old Cornell graduate who worked for building owner Rudin Management; Aland Etienne, 46, an unarmed security guard working for McLane Security Inc.; and 36-year-old Didarul Islam, an off-duty NYPD officer who was working building security. NFL employee Craig Clementi was also injured in the incident, but is in a stable condition.
