University of Arkansas baseball star Gage Wood on Monday pitched an historic no-hitter against Murray State University in the College World Series, marking just the third college no-hitter in history and first in 65 years.

The most recent no-hitter during the College World Series was in 1960, when Jim Wixson of Oklahoma State pitched a no-hitter against Minnesota. Jim Ehrler of Texas threw the first no-hitter in 1950, per Fox News.

Wood struck out 19 players, a new CWS record for most strikeouts in a nine-inning game, helping his team defeat Kentucky by a score of 3-0. He threw a total of 83 strikes out of 119 pitches.

"The only special thing was I didn’t want to go home. That’s it," Wood said after the game. "We’re not going home. We get to play tomorrow night. But it’s pretty cool."

Arkansas will now play the winner of Monday night’s game between UCLA and LSU on Tuesday.
