Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon, husband of Education Secretary Linda McMahon, was cited for reckless driving in a Connecticut crash, in which two other cars were damaged.

The crash occurred a few hours before the death of WWE legend Hulk Hogan was announced Thursday morning, after which McMahon praised the wrestling icon, the Associated Press reported.

According to a state police report, McMahon was cited for reckless driving and following too closely on the Merritt Parkway in Westport, Conn. There were no injuries, and he was released on a $500 bond and ordered to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 26.

Photos of the crash showed heavy damage to the front end of McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed and the rear-end damage to a BMW 430 he struck.

McMahon was driving northbound on the parkway, also known as Route 15, when he rear-ended the BMW and crashed into a wooden guardrail, per the police report. In the southbound lanes, a car struck debris from the crash that had flown over the guardrail.

In 2022, McMahon stepped down as WWE's CEO amid a company investigation into sexual misconduct allegations. Last year, he resigned as executive chairman of the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE, after a former WWE employee filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against him, which is still pending. McMahon has denied the allegations.
