Skier Lindsey Vonn has returned to the U.S. after crashing in the Olympic downhill at the Milan Cortina Games, resulting in a broken leg and a week of treatment at a hospital in Italy.

"Haven’t stood on my feet in over a week… been in a hospital bed immobile since my race. And although I’m not yet able to stand, being back on home soil feels amazing," Vonn posted on X on Monday. "Huge thank you to everyone in Italy for taking good care of me."

Vonn, 41, suffered a complex tibia fracture that has been operated on multiple times following her crash on Feb. 8, The Associated Press reported. She has said that she will need more surgery in the U.S.

Nine days before her fall in Italy, Vonn ruptured the ACL in her left knee in another crash in Switzerland.

Vonn had returned to the Olympics after nearly six years of retirement.
