Trump announces Walmart to lower prices for thousands of products at his administration's request

President Donald Trump said Monday that Walmart has confirmed it will be lowering its prices for thousands of products this summer at his administration's request in celebration of the United States' 250th birthday.

Walmart said it will be lowering prices through its signature Rollbacks and Sam's Club programs, and customers can expect savings on groceries, household and everyday essentials, outdoor living, toys and apparel.

Trump noted that one grocery price that the savings include is a reduction in the cost of beef, which he said will be lowered by almost 15% per pound. Walmart said a pound of beef will now cost $5.94 instead of $6.74.

"This is a huge deal for the many millions of Americans who, smartly, shop at Walmart, which is a truly patriotic Company who loves the USA," Trump posted on Truth Social. "Walmart is stepping up in a big and bold way, and other retailers should follow the lead of these absolute Patriots. Together, we will make America stronger and greater than ever before."

Other savings include reducing the cost of a two-pound bag of red cherries from $11.18 to $5.63 and reducing 24-packs of Coca Cola and Pepsi products to $9.97. The packs of Coca-Cola were $14.97 each and Pepsi were $13.97.

Walmart said the deals can be found in stores, online and through Walmart's and Sam's Club's apps. 

“Customers count on Walmart to deliver the value they need every day, and summer is no exception," Walmart's executive vice president and chief merchant Julie Barber said in a statement. "This summer, we're making even more investments in price, with thousands of Rollbacks across the products customers are shopping for most.

"Whether they're stocking up for a backyard barbecue, heading out on vacation or simply shopping for the week ahead, we're helping everyone save more for every occasion," she added.
