Kai Trump wanted to speak at RNC, support her grandfather: Don Jr.
"They play together every weekend, and so they have a really good relationship," Donald Trump Jr. said about his father and daughter Kai.
Former first son Donald Trump Jr. said Thursday that his 17-year-old daughter wanted to speak at the Republican National Convention due to the close relationship she has with her grandfather, former President Donald Trump.
"She's a great competitive golfer," Trump Jr. said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show, referring to his daughter Kai. "So she's with my dad all the time. They play together every weekend, and so they have a really good relationship."
He said that the news of the attempted assassination on the former president hit Kai hard and that she wanted to speak at the RNC to talk about what an amazing man her grandfather was.
"Even when he's going through all of these court cases, he always asks me how I'm doing," Kai said during her speech on Wednesday. "He always encourages me to be the most successful person I can be."
Trump Jr. further pushed back against allegations that Kai faced pressure give a speech and get political.
"She calls me on Monday morning, and just says, 'Dad, I feel very strongly about this. I want to speak at the RNC,'" Trump Jr. said.
He said that he called his father and asked what he thought about her wanting to speak, to which he responded with, "the kid's a winner. She'll do great."
