Trump starts super PAC in effort to unseat GOP Rep. Thomas Massie
Efforts are in place by the Trump Administration to remove Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie from his seat, after his public oppositions to Trump's involvement with Iran
President Trump is launching a new super PAC that will work to unseat Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie in the May 2026 primary election, after his public opposition to the president's initiatives.
Massie was one of just two House Republicans to vote against the “One Big, Beautiful Bill Act.” In more recent days, Massie has been vocal on X, making his objections to Trump's involvement with Iran very clear.
The new initiative is known as Kentucky MAGA. However, plans were reportedly in place for this PAC prior to Massie’s many disagreements regarding Iran.
The PAC will be led by Tony Fabrizio and Chris LaCivita, Trump’s senior political advisers. LaCivita told Axios that the group will spend “whatever it takes” to take down Massie.
Trump and Massie have long been in opposition to one another, after Trump tried to have Massie removed from the GOP in 2020 as well. Still, Massie managed to keep his seat through multiple primaries and even received an endorsement from Trump in 2022.
However, a recent survey conducted by Trump pollster John McLaughlin reportedly showed the congressman may be vulnerable to a Trump-backed primary challenge. The survey showed 52% would support a Trump-backed candidate while only 23% would support Massie, according to Axios.
The only other Republican to vote against the GOP megabill was Ohio Rep. Warren Davidson.
Davison has also openly questioned Trump’s decisions in Iran by posting a reply on X to the president’s Truth Social post about the attack.
“While President Trump’s decision may prove just, it’s hard to conceive a rationale that’s Constitutional. I look forward to his remarks tonight,” Davidson said.
Davidson appears to face less backlash from the Trump administration. However, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that when asked whether Trump thinks someone should primary Davidson in 2026, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “I believe he does, and I don't think he likes to see grandstanders in Congress.”
On Saturday, Massie took to X, criticizing the Trump administration’s efforts in Iran and saying that they are "not Constitutional."
In response, Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday.
“Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky is not MAGA, even though he likes to say he is,” Trump wrote. “Actually, MAGA doesn’t want him, doesn’t know him, and doesn’t respect him. He is a negative force who almost always Votes “NO,” no matter how good something may be.”
In the ongoing social media battle between the pair, Trump posted today, “GET THIS “BUM” OUT OF OFFICE, ASAP!!!”
