Trump teases 'major comeback' for Kennedy Center
Trump's hint at a physical renovation for the center comes as he plans to personally fund the construction of a ballroom at the White House.
President Donald Trump on Tuesday hinted at possible renovations to the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, potentially building on his efforts to update the White House and other federal sites.
"GREAT Nominees for the TRUMP/KENNEDY CENTER, whoops, I mean, KENNEDY CENTER, AWARDS," he posted on Truth Social. "They will be announced Wednesday. Tremendous work is being done, and money being spent, on bringing it back to the absolute TOP LEVEL of luxury, glamour, and entertainment. It had fallen on hard times, physically, BUT WILL SOON BE MAKING A MAJOR COMEBACK!!! President DJT."
Trump previously fired the members of the board and appointed former acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell to overhaul the center's programming. Several lawmakers have also introduced legislation to name the center's opera house after first lady Melania Trump and the center overall after the 47th president.
