Georgia GOP governor nominee dropping $87M on ad blitz on Democrat nominee Keisha Bottoms Jackson

Georgia Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson launched an advertising campaign against Democratic general election opponent Keisha Lance Bottoms, a former Atlanta mayor and Biden Administration adviser.

Jackson, a billionaire businessman, announced last week he plans to spend $87 million on the initial ad buy, according The Current, a coastal Georgia newspaper. 

Jackson campaign spokesman Garrison Douglas said the ad buy is the largest of the race so far. 

"It reflects exactly how seriously we take the job of earning every vote in every one of Georgia’s 159 counties,” he said. 

Bottoms' campaign responded by pointing to Jackson's business dealings with the state, claiming he made billions for his healthcare company while rural hospitals closed and Georgians lost healthcare. 

Jackson posted the first commercial in the campaign on Friday.
