Two well-known men in the Democratic Party are vying for New York Democratic Rep. Jerry Nadler's seat on Tuesday night, but neither of them are expected to win the primary.

Former President John F. Kennedy's grandson Jack Schlossberg and Republican-turned-Democrat attorney George Conway are both seeking the Democratic nomination for Nadler's seat but are facing six other candidates. The race requires only a plurality of the vote to win.

Polling last month showed New York Assemblyman Alex Bores and Assemblyman Micah Lasher leading the pack for the nomination over Conway and Schlossberg. However, Schlossberg led in polls earlier this year, according to Newsweek.

The district, a solidly Democratic area, is centered in Manhattan and includes some of the wealthiest and most densely populated neighborhoods in New York City. It covers the Upper East and West sides of Manhattan and the neighborhoods of Gramercy, Murray Hill, Chelsea, Hell’s Kitchen, Greenwich Village and SoHo.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has not endorsed a candidate in the race, but Schlossberg has been endorsed by his mother, Caroline Kennedy, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Nadler endorsed Lasher.
