Biden admin soon to regulate gas-powered furnaces in homes

As Republicans try to stop Biden's war on gas stoves, the administration is branching out into other household appliances.

The Biden administration is looking to impose heavy restrictions on Americans’ gas-powered furnaces for their homes.

President Biden’s Department of Energy (DOE) is finalizing its proposed furnace crackdown that it initially announced last June, according to Fox News. Billed as “energy-efficiency standards” that would be a moneysaver for consumers, it also stated the rules would “significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”

If such proposals are implemented, “non-weatherized gas furnaces” would have to meet “an annual fuel utilization efficiency of 95%.” Currently that standard is 80%.

As it stands, as many as 60% of furnaces currently on the market would no longer meet federal standards.

“This has nothing to do with the environment,” energy expert Daniel Turner said in response to the news. It has “everything to do with control.”

The news comes as Republicans are currently working to thwart the Commander in Chief’s similar crackdown on gas stoves. Two bills aimed at preserving the kitchen appliance – the Save Our Gas Stoves Act and the Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act – are pending a House vote.
