A Princess Cruises cruise ship docked in San Francisco has been hit by an outbreak of norovirus, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Out of the more than 3,000 passengers on the Ruby Princess, 102 have been affected by the virus, along with 23 crewmembers.

Symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea. Thursday marked the scheduled end of the 20-day cruise, though the outbreak was first reported last Saturday, according to the CDC.

A representative from Princes Cruises confirmed the outbreak, saying “a limited number of guests reported mild gastrointestinal illness during the 20-day June 12 Ruby Princess voyage from San Francisco,” according to local news outlet KRON4.

“Our crew responded promptly by implementing enhanced sanitation protocols across the ship,” Princess Cruises added.

The CDC said its Vessel Sanitation Program is remotely monitoring the situation and reviewing the Ruby Princess’s outbreak response.
