A federal judge on Thursday blocked an effort by the Trump administration to create a federal list of eligible voters to determine eligibility for mail-in ballots.

U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani blocked the executive order, arguing that it ran afoul of the constitutional separation of powers, the Associated Press reported.
Trump has, since returning to office, attempted to impose a litany of election safeguards via executive order as legislation to require voter ID has stalled in the Senate.
Despite intense public pressure and support from the White House, the Republican-led Senate has refused to alter its rules to advance the SAVE America Act, a marquis voter ID bill.
