Oversight GOP threatens contempt for Bill, Hillary Clinton

The House Oversight Committee is warning former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that it may hold them in contempt of Congress if they fail to comply with subpoenas.

Both have received subpoenas to testify in connection with the panel's investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, though neither have indicated plans to cooperate, Politico reported.

“They are obligated under the law to appear and we expect them to do so,” a committee spokesperson said. “If the Clintons do not appear for their depositions, the House Oversight Committee will initiate contempt of Congress proceedings.”

Under the Biden administration, former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and current Trump advisor Peter Navarro refused to comply with subpoenas from the House Jan. 6 panel, resulting in convictions for contempt of Congress and jail time.
